Durham City Special Constable lapel badge
Durham City Borough Police were a force of their own until they amalgamated with Durham County Constabulary in 1921.  They had a force of 21 at the beginning of the 1st WW, of which 12 served with HMF's, all returning to service.
The Watch Committe recruited a total of 350 special constables during the war and they were issued with the above lapel badge which had a button fitment.
