Peter Maddison QPM Chief Constable Northamptonshire Police
Peter Maddison was appointed Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police in May 2003.

Peter began his police career with Durham Constabulary in 1975, after leaving Salford University with a degree in Zoology and Physiology.

After working as a patrol Constable he served in various parts of County Durham in uniform roles and worked in the Training Department on regional management training. In 1989 he transferred to a division as Operations Chief Inspector and in 1990 was seconded to the Home Office District Policing Training Centre at Durham as a Superintendent.

Peter returned to Durham Constabulary in 1992 when he took over as Head of Force Training. A year later he moved to the post of Divisional Commander at Darlington. After attending the Strategic Command Course in 1995, he was appointed Force Operations Superintendent, before moving to Hertfordshire in 1997 as Assistant Chief Constable. He was promoted to Deputy Chief Constable in Hertfordshire in November 2000.

He is the Police lead on the Board of the Milton Keynes South Midlands Expansion Programme.

In the Queen's Birthday Honours of 2005 Peter Maddison was awarded the Queen's Police Medal for outstanding service to Policing.
