Andrew Cameron QPM CBE Chief Constable Central Scotland Police
Mr Cameron was appointed Chief Constable of Central Scotland Police on 1 August 2000. 

Born in 1953 Andrew Cameron served as a police cadet, later joining Ayrshire Constabulary 1972, and thereafter Strathclyde Police following regionalisation. He served in the operational, research, administrative and command areas in both uniform and CID duties.

From 1991 to 1994 he was a Staff Officer to HM Inspector of Constabulary, at the Scottish Office. He carried out inspections in respect of the 8 Scottish Forces. He also conducted inspection work in Namibia, for the Overseas Development Administation.

Returning to Strathclyde Police in 1994, he was Sub-Divisional Officer in the Clydebank & Drumchapel areas (formerly 'B' Division) until 1995, when he led a project team in undertaking a review of the CID. In September 1995 he became Deputy Divisional Commander and 1996 Divisional Commander of 'U' Division.

In October 1997, he and the former Assistant Chief Constable John Welsh, assisted Western Australia Police to review investigative and training practices and the strategies used to tackle crime throughout Western Australia.

After a term as Personnel Officer for Strathclyde Police, he became Assistant Chief Constable (Management Services) in April 1998. Here he was responsible for the restructuring of territorial police divisions. The restructuring of Force Headquarters departments also commenced at this time. On 1 April 1999 he became Assistant Chief Constable (Operations) he was responsible for strategic planning for all major events impacting upon Strathclyde Police, such as the Tall Ships Race, the England v Scotland Euro 2000 play-off in 1999, and preparations for the Millennium date change and celebrations.

Mr Cameron attended the University of Strathclyde, and in 1983 graduated with a BA in Business Administration. Awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 2002 he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2007.
