Mike Goodwin Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Leicetershire Constabulary
Mike Goodwin was appointed Temporary Deputy Chief Constable in September 2009. He currently leads on the Force savings strategy and he is also leading on a senior leadership development programme between police and local public sector partners. 

Since January 2002 he was Assistant Chief Constable (Operations) at Leicestershire Constabulary leading on neighbourhood policing, quality of service, community safety and specialist operations. 

He joined West Midlands Police in 1993 serving as Area Commander at Sutton Coldfield, as well as operational command posts in Coventry, Birmingham City and Sandwell and also as Head of Press & Public Relations.

Prior to this he served in the Metropolitan Police, which he joined in 1980 serving in Lambeth and London's West End. At New Scotland Yard, he had responsibility for developing policy on community policing and crime reduction partnerships.

Before joining the Metropolitan Police he graduated from the University of Kent at Canterbury with a BA(Hons) in English and American Literature. He holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of Warwick Business School, a Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Criminology from the University of Cambridge.

He was awarded the Police Long Service and Good Conduct medal in 2002.

In 2007 and again in 2008 Mike was seconded to the National Police Improvement Agency as Syndicate Director on the National Strategic Command Course, which develops all aspiring Chief Police Officers across the Country.

He is a mentor of Warwick Business School alumni and has trained with the Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring as an Executive Coach. Mike was appointed as an Associate Fellow of Warwick Business School in 2009.
