Peter Vaughan Deputy Chief Constable South Wales Police 2007 -2009
Peter Vaughan joined the police service in 1984 as a graduate serving with South Wales Police for nineteen years, rising from the rank of Constable to Chief Superintendent. 

In December 2003, he joined Wiltshire Police on promotion as Assistant Chief Constable. 

In January 2007, he returned to South Wales Police as Assistant Chief Constable, Communities and Partnerships.

In April 2007, he was promoted to his current rank of Deputy Chief Constable at South Wales Police a post he retained until he took over as Chief Constable on 1st January 2010. He is also Chair of the ACPO Police Dogs Working Group and has responsibility for the development of national policy and guidance relating to police dogs.
