Sgt 1 Adam Bowey Durham City (Borough) Police Adam Bowey was born at Bamborough, Northumberland and initially joined Newcastle City Police on 28.5.1888 as PC36B. Resigned on 21.2.1890 and joined Durham City (Borough) Police on 24.2.1890 as PC14. Promoted Sgt 1 on 29.7.1901, one of only two men in that force to be awarded the 1911 (County & Borough) Coronation Medal (wearing in photograph), retired 7.11.1914.
