Brass Cap Badge worn by European O/R's of the South African Police from 1913 to 1926

European members of the SA Police wore Brass Insignia until 1977 when all races wore insignia in a "gilt" finish. This Cap Badge was worn before the change over from Dutch to Afrikaans as the second official language in 1925 when the Dutch 'Zuid Afrikaanse Politie' was replaced with 'Suid Afrikaanse Poliesie'. It was worn until 1931 when the Afrikaans spelling of the word "Polisie" was deemed to be correct and taken into general use.
