William Horne Assistant Chief Constable Gwent Police
Mr Horne joined Dyfed-Powys Police in 1979 and served in uniform CID and the Fraud Section. Operational posts followed until 1992, when he established the force's Quality of Service section. Promoted to Superintendent in 1993, he led the force Development, Personnel, Training and Technology Departments at a time of significant change.

From 1995, Mr Horne held divisional posts as Superintendent and officer in charge of divisions in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen. He attended the Strategic Command Course in 1998 and thereafter took command of Personnel and Development Services, as well as undertaking a period as Temporary Assistant Chief Constable, Operations.

Mr. Horne was appointed Assistant Chief Constable, Operations for Gwent Police on 7th January 2001.
