Newcastle City Police Inspector Thomas Joseph Delahunt. Born 16.4.1879 at Eglish, Birr, Kings Co, Ireland. Served as Pte 8171 Grenadier Guards before joining Newcastle City Police on 25.1.1901 as PC51B. Promoted sergeant 5.9.1919, station sergeant 5.3.1920 and Inspector 30.5.1924. Retired 6.3.1930 on ill health pension and died 14.5.1939. Served as a divisional plain clothes officer, superintendents clerk and coroner's officer during his service.
