Sgt 143 Fitzroy Fred Taylor
Whilst stationed in the Forest of Dean, he was awarded a medal by the Royal Society for the Protection of life from fire, for his actions at the scene of a house fire in Coleford on 22/10/1939. He was also awarded the 'Silver Braid' for gallantry by the Chief Constable, this was a silver ribband only ever issued by Gloucestershire Constabulary and was authorised for wear on the tunics right breast.
