Workers at Sharpness Docks, Gloucestershire, circa 1908 3rd from left is a Police Constable, on both sides of his collar are the chrome letters SD (Sharpness Docks), he has a black helmet plate, (the same style as the Gloucestershire Constabulary plate of that time), but in the centre it again has the chrome letters SD.
