Mark Rowley Acting Chief Constable Surrey Police
Mark Rowley is the Chief Constable of Surrey Police. Mark Rowley is currently Temporary Chief Constable with overall responsibility for strategy and operational co ordination across the force.Mark Rowley began his policing career in West Midlands, having graduated from St. Catharines College, Cambridge. After a broad uniformed and detective career in Birmingham, he moved to NCIS. Here, as Detective Superintendent, he led on the national deployment of covert techniques to combat organised crime such as telephone interception and tasking of the intelligence agencies. He was a key member of the team that compiled the 'National Intelligence Model'.On transferring to Surrey as Chief Superintendent in West Surrey, he oversaw major crime reductions and led several countywide initiativesHe was appointed Assistant Chief Constable of Surrey Police in March 2004, where his responsibilities included local policing, crime reduction and criminal justice. He is an enthusiastic advocate of involvement of local people in policing in Surrey which has led to increased public feelings of safety as well as crime reduction.
