Steve Thomas
Assistant Chief Constable (London and the 2012 Olympic Games) since July 2007, Steve joined BTP from Greater Manchester Police, where for five years he was ACC responsible for Specialist Operations and the Professional Standards Department. He led the operational response for major events such as the 2003 Champions League Final and Political Party Conferences.

 

Since joining BTP, Steve has developed our Olympic planning and preparations, agreed funding with DfT, appointed our Silver and Bronze Commanders and agreed our draft operation orders and officer requirements for all 60 operational days of the Games. This work has led to BTP being appointed to deliver the security plans for all forms of transport during the Olympics (Railway, Roads, Aviation and Maritime), recognising BTP’s expertise in transport security.
