Paul Kennedy Assistant Chief Constable  North Yorkshire Police 12 July 2013

Mr Kennedy originates from West Yorkshire and joined the police in 1988. Prior to that he graduated with a degree in Biomedical Science and worked in the National Health Service.

He served with West Yorkshire Police and South Wales Police in both uniform and detective roles. Between 2005 and 2008 he was based in Bradford and was a senior investigating officer in the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

As well as leading murder investigations, Mr Kennedy developed policy in response to mass disaster and child abduction.

He was appointed as Area Commander for South Cumbria in April 2008. In 2010 he was temporarily seconded for 6 months to work with her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and led a value for money inspection of criminal justice reforms in London.
